After you did the mechanical preparations it’s time to connect the cell to electricity. To automate the power-on process but prevent overload on the cars wires we will use relay for switching. A new, dedicated wires will connect the cell to the battery.

The first mission is to find a system under the hood that works only when the engine is on.

We will use the electric signal to this system as control signal to the relay. It is also possible to use the wire coming out the “run” position of the switch (position 2) for controlling the relay.

You will need multi-meter or low voltage tester for this quest. After finding the right wire, connect to it the relay as described in the drawing.

It is absolutely necessary to make the activation and the shut down of the cell fully automatic. Manual shut down will certainly some day will be forgotten and that a safety problem.

Wire a LED to the dashboard. This is done to indicate that the cell is working and the fuse isn’t burnt out.

All electric wires need to be at least 20 ampere compatible.
